Job description

The opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Application Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will bring your expertise in our Transformers portfolio to customers, ensuring mutual trust, communicating technical preferences, providing training, and presenting Hitachi Energy transformer solutions. You will lead regional business development and sales of Transformer solutions, including digitalization, covering the entire digital portfolio, tracking market trends, and securing growth. You will develop and implement a regional sales strategy aligned with global objectives to increase customer engagement through Front End teams, distribution channels, and promotion of Digital and Sustainable Transformer solutions.

How you’ll make an impact

  1. Support global transformer strategy and portfolio deployment in the HUB to customers and Hitachi Energy, focusing on key areas.
  2. Contribute to short, medium, and long-term results by supporting sales and execution teams throughout the process, from pre-tender activities to post-delivery support.
  3. Organize and conduct technical trainings, webinars, and presentations to demonstrate industry-leading knowledge.
  4. Translate previous transformer design experience into customer-relevant knowledge.
  5. Lead regional Application Engineering & Business Development activities for the transformer portfolio, understanding market trends and ensuring growth.
  6. Engage in customer activities such as technical trainings, industry conferences, customer visits, specifications reviews, tender negotiations, and post-order support.
  7. Provide internal technical training and customer relationship presentations, engaging factory and engineering teams to build trust and support during FAT and post-order issues.
  8. Develop KPIs and targets to monitor activity and outcomes, such as the number of trainings and specifications influenced.
  9. Follow a structured market plan, combining technical insights with customer needs and strategic outlook.
  10. Ensure all customer interactions are reported in SFDC and supported by the M&S team.
  11. Develop technical presentations and support colleagues with deep understanding of transformer topics.
  12. Support marketing and sales activities with technical knowledge, feedback, and market analysis, including heat maps and competitive landscape.
  13. Collaborate closely with Application Engineering teams and embody Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical roles such as transformer design, customer interaction in tenders or order execution. Sales exposure is a plus.
  • Technical skills in transformers with ability to connect technical and marketing teams.
  • Intercultural sensitivity, working with colleagues and customers from multiple countries.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 35%.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
