Job description

Overview

A leading insurance company is seeking an experienced Anti-Money Laundering Regulatory Specialist to join their team in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities :

  1. Handle FICA ad-hoc issues, KYC queries, reporting of cash transactions above threshold, suspicious transactions, section 27 requests, and other reports.
  2. Perform periodic reviews to ensure the accuracy of CTR, STR, and section 27 responses.
  3. Conduct AML functions on an ongoing basis, including detection and reporting of suspicious transactions and activities.
  4. Review and improve AML processes and perform AML risk assessments as needed.
  5. Update Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and guidelines from an AML perspective.
  6. Develop, maintain, and implement enhanced AML/CTF & Sanctions policies.
  7. Report and escalate AML compliance risks and issues arising from interactions with divisions.
  8. Provide expert advice on AML/CTF & Sanctions issues affecting divisions due to compliance obligations.
  9. Offer guidance on AML/CTF & Sanctions matters to the business.
  10. Issue compliance alerts.
  11. Publish relevant documentation on the intranet.
  12. Draft internal communications and advice.
  13. Advise management on AML, KYC, and Due Diligence.
  14. Train and coach partners and intermediaries on AML, KYC, and Due Diligence updates.
  15. Review high-risk customers, including accounts opened by Politically Exposed Persons.
  16. Prioritize projects and tasks based on compliance risk exposure.
  17. Coordinate and facilitate on-site regulatory visits and prepare relevant information.
  18. Conduct end-to-end investigations of financial crime incidents.
  19. Raise awareness and provide training on Financial Crime Risks.
  20. Manage marketing and communication for the Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) function.
  21. Perform financial crime vulnerability assessments, combined assurance reviews, and risk assessments.

Requirements :

  1. Degree in Legal, Business, IT, Risk Management, Forensics, Audit, or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  2. At least five (5) years of anti-money laundering experience, preferably in the insurance industry.
  3. Strong analytical skills.
