Job description

A leading insurance company is seeking an experienced Anti-Money Laundering Regulatory Specialist to join their team in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities :

  1. Handle FICA ad-hoc issues, KYC queries, report cash transactions above threshold, suspicious transactions, section 27 requests, and other reports.
  2. Conduct periodic reviews to ensure accuracy of CTR, STR, and section 27 responses.
  3. Perform ongoing AML functions, including detection and reporting of suspicious transactions and activities.
  4. Review and enhance AML functions and perform AML risk assessments as needed.
  5. Update Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and guidelines from an AML perspective.
  6. Develop, maintain, and implement enhanced AML/CTF & Sanctions policies.
  7. Report and escalate AML compliance risks and issues arising from interactions with divisions.
  8. Provide expert advice on AML/CTF & Sanctions issues affecting divisions due to compliance obligations.
  9. Offer guidance on AML/CTF & Sanctions matters to the business.
  10. Issue compliance alerts and publish relevant documentation on the intranet.
  11. Draft internal communications and advice.
  12. Advise management on AML, KYC, and Due Diligence matters.
  13. Provide training and coaching on AML, KYC, and Due Diligence updates for partners and intermediaries.
  14. Review high-risk customers, including Politically Exposed Persons.
  15. Prioritize projects and tasks based on associated compliance risks.
  16. Coordinate and facilitate on-site regulatory visits and prepare related documentation.
  17. Conduct investigations of financial crime incidents.
  18. Promote financial crime risk awareness and training.
  19. Manage marketing and communication for the Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) function.
  20. Perform financial crime vulnerability assessments, assurance reviews, and risk assessments.

Requirements :

  1. Degree in Legal, Business, IT, Risk Management, Forensics, Audit, or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  2. Minimum of five years' AML experience, preferably within the insurance industry.
  3. Strong analytical skills.
  4. Financial acumen.
  5. Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks.
  6. Proficient report writing skills.
