Job summary

• Animal Health Monitoring — Monitor general health and wellbeing of livestock.
• Health Inspections — Conduct regular inspections and identify signs of illness, injury or disease.
• Disease Prevention — Assist with prevention, treatment and control of animal diseases.
• Vaccinations & Treatments — Administer vaccinations, medication and treatments within scope of practice.
• Health Programmes — Support vaccination, parasite control and other health programmes.
• Reporting — Report abnormalities or health concerns to management and veterinarians.
• Record Keeping — Maintain accurate animal health and treatment records.
• Animal Handling — Assist with examinations and routine health procedures.

Introduction

Our client is seeking a dedicated and registered Animal Health Technician to support all animal‑health‑related responsibilities on a farm located in Delmas. The successful candidate will work closely with farm management and veterinarians to ensure optimal animal health, compliance with SAVC standards, and the effective implementation of animal‑health programmes.

This role requires someone who is comfortable working in the meat industry, including farm and abattoir environments, and who can communicate fluently in Afrikaans and English.

Key Responsibilities

Animal Health Monitoring — Monitor general health and wellbeing of livestock

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant qualification as an Animal Health Technician.
• Current registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) is essential.
• Proof of current SAVC registration must be provided.
• Previous experience working with livestock, preferably within the beef or agricultural industry.
• Good understanding of livestock health, disease prevention and animal welfare.
• Afrikaans and English speaking is essential.
• Willingness to work within the meat industry, including around a farm and abattoir where required.
