Analytics Engineer
Location: Cape Town - Hybrid / Remote, ZAR

With recent strategic investments from Zurich Insurance and backing from the founders of Deliveroo, Zoopla, and Delivery Hero, we're experiencing growth and evolution.

Our journey has been featured in The Economist, TechCrunch, and The Times. We are seeking an Analytics Engineer to strengthen our data capabilities and contribute to expanding our data resources.

You will deliver actionable insights and develop analytics solutions to enhance customer satisfaction and meet business objectives, focusing on customer analytics and marketing improvements. You will also develop insights for various consumer products, especially as we scale.

You will be a key stakeholder in maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring analytics support our customer needs effectively. This role offers the chance to work with diverse datasets, explore new trends, and collaborate across teams to make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities:

1. Data Pipeline Management: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data infrastructure; build and optimize data models, databases, and ETL pipelines.
2. Data Integrity, Security, and Governance: Implement best practices for data quality, compliance, and security to ensure reliable reporting and analytics.
3. Tool Integration and Data Accessibility: Integrate internal tools to enhance customer engagement and automate personalized experiences; develop dashboards for data insights.
4. Customer Reporting and Adhoc Analysis: Create and manage Looker dashboards; handle ad-hoc data requests with clear insights.
5. Product and User Data Analysis: Analyze member behavior, track user journeys, identify trends, and monitor key metrics to support growth and product adjustments.

Requirements:

• Strong academic background in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, or Data Scientist.
• Technical skills in advanced SQL (e.g., PARTITION BY), familiarity with DBT or similar tools, and BI platforms like Looker.
• Excellent analytical skills focusing on behavioral and engagement data.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights for non-technical teams.
