Job summary

ALS Chemex South Africa (Pty) Ltd is seeking a skilled laboratory technician to perform instrument-driven analyses, manage samples and QC processes, and maintain data integrity within a tight production schedule.

You will handle ICP and AAS instrumentation, prepare calibration standards, and ensure proper tracking of samples while adhering to safety and ALS SOPs. Fluent English is required, and a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in Analytical Chemistry is required.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).
• Good understanding of instrumentation and analytical chemistry principles.

Responsibilities

• Housekeeping and proper handling of samples, consumables and equipment.
• Run routine and non-routine analyses on trained instruments.
• Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on instruments and auto-sampler.
• Familiarize with GEMS batching of instrument runs and data approval workflow.
• Prepare calibration standards and QC solutions; track samples and scans.
• Ensure data quality and throughput against production targets.
