Job summary

SGS Barberton laboratory is seeking a capable analyst to perform routine analytical techniques within Sample Preparation and Fire Assay. You will handle weighing, drying, crushing, and fusion operations and ensure QA compliance.

The role requires at least 3 years in an analytical chemistry lab, strong accuracy, and willingness to rotate across departments. Overtime may be required, with a focus on safety and ISO17025/SANAS standards.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
• Minimum 3 years in analytical chemistry laboratory.
• Knowledge of measurement, preparation, fluxing, and fusing of samples is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Receive samples with security guard and verify seal numbers against the waybill.
• Perform weighing, drying and crushing of samples as per client instructions.
• Weigh, flux, fuse and cupel in Fire Assay processes.
• Perform screening of samples and assist with QA checks.
• Report daily production figures to supervisor with explanations for variances.
• Maintain housekeeping and conform to QHSE policies; rotate across prep and fire assay.
