Job description

Purpose Of The Job

The department is responsible for supervising the conduct of business of micro and access product institutions, including micro insurers, friendly societies, co-operative banks, and co-operative financial institutions. The appointed person will assist the department in monitoring compliance with the Financial Sector Regulation Act, 9 of 2017 (FSR Act), and other relevant financial laws to ensure a sound and efficient micro institutions industry. The role reports to the Manager: Micro and Access Product Institutions.

Key Performance Areas

  1. Assist the Manager and Head of Department in developing and implementing an effective supervisory framework for micro institutions based on the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) approach.
  2. Recommend and implement changes to the regulatory framework and policy within the FSCA.
  3. Monitor compliance with legislation and address unfair treatment of customers by Micro and Access Product institutions.
  4. Coordinate and conduct on-site inspections and ensure timely follow-up on inspection findings.
  5. Conduct research, manage project activities, and support the Micro and Access Product Institutions team.
  6. Help establish, implement, and maintain quality management and control procedures in the department.
  7. Assist in preparing statutory and supervisory reports.
  8. Engage with internal and external stakeholders on regulatory and supervisory matters.
  9. Participate in industry and FSCA committees as required.
  10. Perform administrative and supervisory activities delegated by the Manager and Head of Department.
