Our operations span exploration, mining, processing, blending, shipping, marketing, and sales. In South Africa, we operate in the Northern Cape, Gauteng (Centurion), and Western Cape (Saldanha Bay).

We are seeking an Operator GR2 (Processing) to maintain a clean and safe work environment while assisting with operational tasks under supervision.

Job Description

As an Operator GR2 (Processing), your role will focus on cleaning, safety, and operational assistance to ensure smooth and efficient processing operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to safety regulations.
2. Follow SHE standards and sign off on all required work instructions and procedures.
3. Attend safety meetings and ensure a clean, hazard-free work environment.
4. Apply Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA / Mini HIRA) processes.
5. Report any safety and health-related issues.
6. Participate in safety initiatives, including SLAMs, HPHs, and risk assessments.
7. Maintain good housekeeping by keeping the work area clean and organized.
8. Use appropriate tools and materials for cleaning equipment.
9. Clean safety signs and equipment to ensure visibility and functionality.
10. Collect spillage material, sort it, and dispose of it properly.
11. Ensure tools are stored in designated areas and kept clean.
12. Clean equipment continuously to maintain optimal performance.
13. Restore the work area to its original state before leaving.
14. Assist the supervisor and co-workers in daily operations.
15. Step in when the responsible person is absent.
16. Provide support within your level of competence.
17. Ensure all assistance is aligned with Kumba Iron Ore (KIO) policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Reporting Line : This role reports to the Supervisor in the Processing (PRO) department at Band P6 level.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Requirements

1. Grade 12 / N3 Certificate
2. National Certificate in Mineral Processing (Level 2)
3. Valid South African Driver’s Licence

Experience & Technical Knowledge

1. 1-2 years of operational experience in mining or plant processing.
2. Understanding of plant processes and basic knowledge of maintenance and cleaning standards.
3. Familiarity with relevant procedures and plant layout.
