Requirements for the job:

  1. A NQF 7 graduate qualification with 4-6 years relevant work experience, or a postgraduate tertiary qualification, preferably in Business, Management, or a related field.
  2. At least 3-5 years experience in the Higher Education sector working with postgraduate and/or Masters students.
  3. Alternatively, 4-6 years’ experience in stakeholder engagement within a management capacity, focusing on building and maintaining partnerships, with at least 3 years in staff management, budget development, and strategic execution.
  4. Understanding of communication and content management platforms, with the ability to oversee or work on these platforms.
  5. Experience in CRM data management, data analysis, and synthesis techniques.
  6. Skills in navigating diverse social and professional settings, adapting engagement styles to connect with alumni from varied backgrounds.
  7. Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and events efficiently, adapting to changing priorities.
  8. Strong written communication, presentation skills, and professional stakeholder communication.
  9. Ability to work independently and in a team to achieve GSB goals.
  10. Willingness to travel locally and internationally, and work evenings and weekends as needed.
  11. Discretion and judgment in developing alumni events.

The Alumni Relations Manager will be responsible for:

  1. Managing Partnerships: Cultivate and manage relationships with service providers and internal/external partners to support departmental objectives.
  2. Alumni & GSB Community Stakeholder Relations: Develop and maintain strong connections with alumni, fostering community and encouraging participation.
  3. Develop, coordinate, and execute the Alumni Relations Plan, including planning and organizing alumni events to promote engagement.
  4. Ensure consistent communication with alumni across channels to maintain strong relationships.
  5. Forecast and manage the budget for alumni programs and events, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  6. Human Resources and administration.
  7. Manage the Alumni Relations team.
  8. Administrative and management tasks.
