Job summary

Mototeam (Pty) Ltd in Gauteng is seeking a dedicated spray-painter to prepare, paint and finish wheel rims for automotive refurbishment.

You will read and follow work instructions, mix paints, mount rims, cure finishes, and perform finishing tasks to ensure high quality. A strong eye for colour, reliability and teamwork are essential for this on-site role.

Qualifications

• Spray-painting experience is required.
• Ability to spray paint with a consistent, quality finish.
• Experience in wheel refurbishment or automotive painting preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and colour accuracy.
• Reliable, hardworking with deadline discipline.

Responsibilities

• Prepare wheel rims for painting and ensure surfaces are clean.
• Inspect unpainted rims for suitability for painting.
• Mix paint to required colour and viscosity.
• Mount rims securely on holding racks for painting.
• Carry out spray painting and/or powder coating for quality finish.
• Place painted rims into the curing oven and select programme.
• Complete finishing and polishing on rims.
• Inspect finished rims for blemishes or defects.
• Carry out touch-ups as required.
• Maintain clean and organised paint areas and workstations.
• Ensure paint guns and equipment are cleaned and maintained.
• Meet required production volumes while maintaining quality.
• Follow workplace safety and quality procedures.
• Perform additional duties as requested by Supervisor/Manager.

Job description

Duties include

• Prepare wheel rims for painting, ensuring surfaces are clean and free from dust and contaminants.
• Inspect unpainted rims to ensure surfaces are suitable for painting.
• Mix paint correctly to achieve the required colour and viscosity.
• Mount wheel rims securely onto holding racks in preparation for painting.
• Carry out spray painting and/or powder coating to achieve a high-quality finish.
• Place painted rims into the curing oven and select the correct curing programme.
• Complete any required finishing and polishing on wheel rims.
• Inspect finished rims for blemishes, imperfections or defects.
• Carry out touch-ups and corrective work where required.
• Maintain clean and organised paint areas and workstations.
• Ensure paint guns, filters and other equipment are cleaned and maintained properly.
• Meet required production volumes while maintaining quality standards.
• Follow all workplace, safety and quality procedures.
• Perform any additional reasonable duties as requested by the Supervisor/Manager.

Requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12 preferred.
• Ability to read and understand basic work instructions.
• Basic numeracy skills with the ability to count accurately.
• Previous spray-painting experience is required.
• Ability to spray paint and achieve a consistent, quality finish.
• Experience in wheel refurbishment, automotive painting, panel beating or a similar environment is required.
• Strong attention to detail and a good eye for colour and finish.
• Reliable, hardworking and quality-focused.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Able to work to production targets and deadlines.
