Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Aircraft Structures Mechanic in Upington to join the maintenance team. You will repair, replace and modify airframe components, reading blueprints and manuals to ensure airworthiness across a range of materials.

You will work with riveting guns, sheet metal tools and welding equipment in a safety‑driven environment. The role requires a trade qualification in Aircraft Structures or Sheet Metal, a minimum of 3 years’ experience, and the ability to interpret technical

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in Aircraft Structures, Sheet Metal work or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Aircraft Structures Mechanic.
  • Ability to read/interpret structural repair manuals, blueprints and drawings.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools used in structural repair.
  • Experience with composite materials is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect aircraft structures for damage, corrosion, cracks and wear.
  • Perform repairs, replacements and modifications per drawings and specs.
  • Work with aluminum, composites, titanium and steel.
  • Operate and maintain riveting guns, shears and welding gear.
  • Ensure repairs meet airworthiness directives and manufacturer standards.
  • Document all work accurately in the maintenance logbook.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Aircraft Structures Mechanic to join their maintenance team in Upington . This role is vital for ensuring the structural integrity and airworthiness of aircraft through the repair, replacement, and modification of airframe components. You will work with a variety of materials, including aluminum, composites, and steel, using specialized tools and techniques. Your expertise in reading blueprints, performing precise measurements, and executing high-quality structural repairs will directly contribute to the safety and performance of the aircraft, supporting vital flight operations in a challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect aircraft structures for damage, corrosion, cracks, and wear.
  • Perform repairs, replacements, and modifications to aircraft structures according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Work with various materials such as aluminum alloys, composites, titanium, and steel.
  • Operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment used in structural repair, including riveting guns, sheet metal shears, and welding equipment.
  • Ensure all structural repairs comply with airworthiness directives and manufacturer standards.
  • Document all work performed accurately in the aircraft maintenance logbook.
