Placements24 is seeking an experienced Aircraft Painter to join their Soweto finishing team. You will prepare aircraft surfaces, mix paints and apply coatings to ensure aviation standards.

The role requires knowledge of spray equipment, paint chemistry, and attention to detail, with a focus on safety and quality. You will work on various aircraft types, in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Aircraft Painter or similar role in industrial painting.
• Strong understanding of paint chemistry, surface preparation techniques, and aerospace coatings application methods.
• Proficiency in operating spray equipment and other painting tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical data sheets and paint manufacturer instructions.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high quality finishes.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights with appropriate PPE.

Responsibilities

• Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming according to specifications.
• Mix paints and coatings accurately to achieve desired colours and properties.
• Apply primers, base coats, and topcoats using spray guns and other equipment for uniform coverage.
• Inspect painted surfaces for defects and perform rework as needed.
• Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and safety protocols.
• Maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and operational condition.

You will prepare aircraft surfaces, mix paints, and expertly apply various coating systems, working with precision and attention to detail. The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial painting, understands paint chemistry, and is adept at working in a challenging, safety-conscious environment to deliver flawless finishes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming according to specifications.
• Mix paints and coatings accurately to achieve desired colours, consistency, and application properties.
• Apply primers, base coats, and topcoats using spray guns and other application equipment, ensuring uniform coverage and finish.
• Inspect painted surfaces for defects, such as runs, sags, or inconsistencies, and perform necessary rework.
• Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and safety protocols regarding paint usage and disposal.
• Maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and operational condition.
