Placements24 is seeking an Aircraft Interior Design Specialist to join its creative team in Soweto, Gauteng. You will conceptualize and develop luxurious cabin interiors for private and commercial aircraft, ensuring aesthetics, ergonomics, and safety compliance.

The role requires on-site collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and client teams, a strong portfolio, and a passion for luxury travel experiences. Relocation to the Soweto area is welcomed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or related field.
• Strong portfolio showcasing interior design projects, preferably aviation or luxury sector.
• Minimum 5 years in interior design with at least 2 years in aircraft interiors.

Responsibilities

• Design and conceptualize aircraft cabin interiors focusing on passenger comfort, aesthetics, and functionality.
• Develop detailed design proposals including mood boards, materials, 3D renderings, and floor plans.
• Collaborate with clients to translate requirements into interior designs.
• Work with engineering to ensure compliance with aircraft specifications and safety regulations.
• Select materials, finishes, and furniture considering weight and durability.
• Prepare design documentation for manufacturing and production teams.
• Stay updated on interior design trends and aviation technology.

Requirements

• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, 3ds Max, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering programs.
• Excellent understanding of materials, fabrics, finishes, and furniture suitable for aircraft applications.
• Knowledge of aviation regulations and certification processes related to cabin interiors.
• Strong client-facing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Soweto, Gauteng area.
