Job summary

KPMG South Africa's Technology Risk practice is seeking an Artificial Intelligence Lead to shape and implement the firm’s AI strategy across advisory services.

You will lead development of AI-enabled assurance offerings, govern AI projects, and build scalable capabilities with strong client credibility. This senior role demands deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and the ability to translate AI concepts into practical risk outcomes for clients.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in AI, data analytics or technology risk.
• Experience designing and implementing AI, ML or intelligent automation solutions.
• Strong knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI and data governance.
• Experience leading complex client engagements and multidisciplinary teams.
• Understanding of technology risk, controls and assurance environments.
• Experience developing and commercialising technology-enabled services.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into business and risk outcomes.
• Experience working with senior executives and building trusted client relationships.

Responsibilities

• AI strategy and leadership—develop and execute the Technology Risk AI strategy.
• Translate strategy into a practical roadmap across offerings, people, technology and governance.
• Lead AI adoption across Technology Risk competencies and service lines.
• Set priorities and measurable outcomes for AI-enabled transformation.
• Advise leadership on AI developments, risks and investment.
• Lead as the senior AI subject-matter leader for Technology Risk.
• Promote responsible, ethical AI adoption in internal and client activities.
• Lead delivery of Trusted AI, AI governance and AI assurance services.
• Support clients in governance and risk management for AI initiatives.
• Develop AI-enabled solutions covering automated testing, analytics, and monitoring.
• Collaborate to create reusable AI assets and accelerators.
• Coordinate proofs-of-concept and pilots before broader deployment.
• Grow market presence and originate AI-related opportunities.
• Build high-performing AI-enabled capabilities within the practice.
