Placements24 in Bloemfontein is seeking an experienced AI Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and scale robust systems for AI research and development. The role requires deep cloud, distributed systems, and MLOps familiarity.

You will manage AWS/Azure/GCP environments and on-premise infrastructure, collaborate with data scientists, and optimize pipelines for model training. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in infrastructure engineering supporting AI/ML workloads.
• Strong expertise in AWS, Azure, and GCP and their services (EC2, S3, EKS, VMs, Blob Storage).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
• Proficiency in Python or Bash and IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible.
• Solid networking, storage, and security fundamentals.
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks (Spark, Dask).
• Familiarity with MLOps practices is advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure for AI/ML workloads.
• Manage cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premise infrastructure for AI development.
• Implement and optimize distributed systems for large-scale data processing and model training.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines for AI models and infrastructure deployments.
• Ensure the security, availability, and performance of AI infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management tasks.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to understand their infrastructure needs.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance AI infrastructure capabilities.
• Contribute to capacity planning and cost optimization efforts.
