About the Role

The Software Engineer (AI) at Capitec plays a crucial role in our cross-functional team, managing the full software development lifecycle of our GenAI-based products—from research and development to deployment and maintenance. You will design, develop, test, and enhance complex AI-driven systems focused on scalability and performance.

You will collaborate with designers and developers to deliver robust GenAI solutions, guiding stakeholders and troubleshooting engineering challenges. Your expertise in generative models, natural language processing, and AI workflows will be essential in creating innovative, content-generating, and user-enhancing systems.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 5+ years of experience in ML/AI or related fields
• 3+ years in AI/machine learning techniques, model development, and deployment
• Experience with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch
• Knowledge of information retrieval systems and search technologies
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++
• Strong skills in Docker and Kubernetes
• Cloud services experience (AWS preferred)
• Experience with microservices architecture
• Knowledge of messaging platforms and systems
• RESTful API design expertise
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities and commitment to quality
