Placements24 is seeking a Data Scientist to apply AI techniques to real-world problems in Pretoria. The role combines research and practical deployment, focusing on statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis to deliver predictive insights.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar role applying AI/ML.
• Proficiency in Python or R, including experience with data manipulation and ML libraries (Pandas, NumX, Scikit-learn).
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
• Experience with SQL and working with relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for AI-driven solutions.
• Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning models for classification, regression, forecasting, and other predictive tasks.
• Design and implement A/B tests and experiments to validate model performance and business impact.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders through visualizations and reports.
• Collaborate with software engineers to deploy models into production environments.
• Research and implement state-of-the-art data science and machine learning techniques.
