Job summary

Old Mutual South Africa seeks an exceptional early-career Industrial Engineer to apply systems thinking, quantitative modelling and AI to real investment and operating problems. You will build tools, improve decision quality, and help scale business operations across investments, analytics and IT platforms.

The role covers application development, maintenance, design and data-driven functionality, with exposure to AI integration in investment research and portfolio management.

Qualifications

• NQF 7 or higher qualification required.
• Industrial Engineering background preferred.
• Strong Python capability.
• Excellent quantitative and analytical abilities.
• Curious and creative in applying AI and technology.
• Business awareness and interest in financial markets.

Responsibilities

• Develop existing applications and contribute to development of new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
• Monitor, identify, and correct more complex software defects to maintain fully functioning applications software.
• Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products/services.
• Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve website/portal/applications software and supporting infrastructure.
• Contribute to and maintain a roadmap to facilitate application software development.
• Provide fault isolation and resolution to limit and address issues promptly.
• Create and maintain complex technical and/or user documentation to a high standard.
• Design and perform website/applications software tests and respond to user emails to monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues.
