THE JOB AT A GLANCE

Are you passionate about crop production and working hands-on with farmers? We are looking for a results-driven Agriculturist to be based in Musina to ensure the efficient sourcing, quality assurance, and management of tomato crops for factory processing. You will be responsible for supporting farmers with technical advice, managing planting and harvesting schedules, ensuring Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) compliance, and maintaining the highest standards of product quality and hygiene. Your role will also involve procurement, data management, cost control, and coordination with the factory to optimize yield and performance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Ensure compliance with systems and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for sourcing factory-grade tomatoes
  • Provide technical support to nurseries and tomato producers
  • Procure raw materials that meet quality standards and specifications
  • Implement quality management strategies to optimize field and factory yields
  • Verify incoming fresh produce meets all quality and safety specifications
  • Maintain proper storage conditions and hygiene standards for tomatoes
  • Plan and coordinate raw material processing activities efficiently
  • Manage planting schedules and delivery timelines in sync with factory capacity
  • Foster strong partnerships with producers and stakeholders
  • Identify and implement cost-effective solutions in agricultural operations
  • Oversee and manage agricultural and nursery-related administrative processes
  • Monitor and control the use of containers (bulk bins)
  • Meet or exceed MPS performance targets
  • Ensure zero non-conformities in internal and external audits
  • Supervise the receiving of raw materials at the Musina Plant
  • Maintain high hygiene standards for all fresh produce storage facilities
  • Develop and implement Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) procedures, including compliance audits for farmers
  • Manage weighbridge activities and administration
  • Supervise and oversee weighbridge employees
  • Perform Ad hoc activities as required for Achieving the Agriculture Department Mandate
