Placements24 is seeking an Agricultural Technologist to join our client’s operations team in Benoni, Gauteng. The role focuses on applying agronomy to improve crop production, monitor field activities, and support planting, irrigation, and fertilization programs.

You will work hands-on with farm machinery, collect crop data, and assist in IPM strategies under supervision. A National Diploma or Bachelors in Agriculture is required, with at least 3 years in crop production and strong observational

• Minimum of 3 years experience in crop production or farm operations.
• Solid understanding of plant physiology, soil science, and pests/diseases.
• Hands-on experience with farming equipment and machinery.
• Proficiency in data collection and basic data analysis.
• Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Implement and supervise daily farm operations related to crop cultivation, including planting, weeding, and pest control.
• Monitor crop growth stages, health, and identify nutrient deficiencies or disease outbreaks.
• Assist in the design and management of irrigation schedules and application of fertilizers.
• Collect field data on crop performance, weather conditions, and pest incidence.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment used in crop production.
• Ensure adherence to quality control standards and safety protocols on the farm.
• Assist in the planning and execution of harvesting operations.
• Conduct soil and tissue sampling for analysis.
• Provide support to the Farm Manager in daily decision-making and problem-solving.
• Maintain accurate records of field activities, input usage, and production data.
• Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies under supervision.
• Stay updated on new agricultural technologies and practices relevant to crop production.
