Placements24 is seeking a passionate Afrikaans Home Language Teacher to deliver remote online lessons to learners within ZA. The role focuses on developing engaging digital content and fostering an interactive virtual classroom to nurture Afrikaans language proficiency and literature appreciation.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant degree in Afrikaans or Education, with PGCE and SACE registration preferred, and have proven online teaching experience.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate and proficient Afrikaans Home Language Teacher to join their esteemed educational team, serving students remotely. This role is crucial for nurturing linguistic proficiency and a deep appreciation for Afrikaans literature and culture among learners across various age groups. The ideal candidate will be adept at creating engaging online learning experiences and fostering a supportive virtual classroom environment. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the educational goals of students without the constraint of physical location, serving learners affiliated with educational institutions in the Kimberley, Northern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver dynamic and interactive Afrikaans Home Language lessons via online platforms to students associated with Kimberley, Northern Cape.
• Develop and curate engaging digital learning materials, including presentations, exercises, and assessments.
• Facilitate online discussions and activities to promote student participation and language development.
• Assess student progress through online assignments, quizzes, and virtual interactions, providing timely and detailed feedback.
• Maintain consistent communication with students, parents, and the academic administration team via email and designated communication channels.
• Manage virtual classroom dynamics to ensure a focused and productive learning environment.
• Stay updated on online teaching methodologies and best practices for remote language instruction.
• Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs and paces in a remote setting.
• Uphold the academic standards and values of the client institution.

Requirements

• A relevant Bachelor's degree in Afrikaans or Education, with a specialization in Afrikaans Home Language.
• A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) and SACE registration are highly desirable.
• Proven experience in teaching Afrikaans Home Language, preferably with online or distance learning components.
• Demonstrated ability to create engaging and effective virtual learning experiences.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a strong command of both written and spoken Afrikaans and English.
• Proficiency in utilizing various online teaching tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, essential for remote work.
• A proactive and adaptable approach to online pedagogy.
• Must have reliable internet connectivity and a suitable home office setup.
• Must have the right to work in ZA.
