Job description

Woodridge College & Preparatory School is an ISASA-registered, co-educational Christian school situated on a 365-acre multi-adventure eco-estate between Gqeberha and Jeffreys Bay in the Eastern Cape.

Woodridge College has the following position available:

Skills and Requirements:
  1. An appropriate professional teaching qualification from a recognised institution (university degree and professional qualification);
  2. Previous Afrikaans FAL teaching experience (Grade 8-Grade 12) IEB and/or CAPS is essential;
  3. Previous experience gained in an IEB school and an understanding of Cooperative Education is advantageous;
  4. Knowledgeable and intellectually inquisitive with the drive and passion for developing and caring for children;
  5. An open and creative outlook to education and keeping up with the latest trends in education;
  6. Ability to adapt to change;
  7. Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills (with pupils, staff and parents);
  8. Excellent organisational and time management skills;
  9. Exceptional administration skills, including computer literacy, and the ability to use technology to enhance the learning experience;
  10. A willingness to develop inspiring, contemporary teaching material;
  11. Ability to promote and embrace diversity and inclusion;
  12. Willingness and commitment to contribute to the School’s extracurricular, sports and outdoor education programmes;
  13. SACE registered with the requisite clearance certificates.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Teaching Afrikaans (Grade 8-Grade 12), applying differential lesson plans to meet the educational needs, abilities and achievements of the individual pupil and groups of pupils;
  2. Providing academic support through extra lessons or extension activities;
  3. Keeping abreast of developments and best practices in teaching Afrikaans;
  4. Incorporating thinking skills to foster independent, critical and creative thinkers;
  5. Communicating effectively and developing relationships at all levels with pupils, staff and parents;
  6. Ensuring a disciplined classroom environment;
  7. Collaborating with colleagues and being a team player;
  8. Participating fully in the life and extracurricular programmes of the School, including pastoral care, sport, outdoor education and other school events/functions;
  9. Incorporating the ethos and values of the School into all aspects of education;
