About the role

Reckitt is seeking a proactive Africa HSE Manager who is passionate about safeguarding well-being and ensuring best practices in our manufacturing environment. You will champion safety, inspire trust, and guide our teams to excellence, impacting our high global standards and ensuring a safe, compliant workspace for all team members.

Responsibilities

1. Drive Health & Safety strategic direction and vision for Africa.
2. Develop and maintain Health & Safety compliance programs aligned with global standards and regulatory requirements.
3. Set strategic goals and annual objectives aligned with Africa KPIs.
4. Conduct audits, inspections, and assess supply chain compliance, providing feedback to sites.
5. Analyze safety data to identify trends and improve strategies.
6. Collaborate across teams to integrate safety considerations into operations.
7. Deliver compliance reports and foster a safety-first culture.
8. Implement employee training on HSE best practices.
9. Develop emergency response plans for all sites.
10. Lead HSE audits to ensure compliance with standards.
11. Manage sustainability initiatives to meet business and regulatory standards, including hazardous materials management.
12. Lead the HSE team, including succession planning, team development, and facility improvements.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety; Master's or Honours degree preferred.
• 8-10 years of managerial experience in health and safety.
• Deep knowledge of safety regulations and compliance in manufacturing.
• Experience analyzing safety data and proposing solutions.
• Knowledge of SA/Nigeria standards and CDM exposure.
• Fluent in English with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel across Africa as needed.
• Minimum Lead Auditor certification in ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Experience in FMCG or pharmaceutical industries is advantageous.
