Job summary

Unilever’s Durban-based payroll leadership role drives end-to-end payroll delivery across Africa and expatriate payroll operations. You will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing within a complex multi-country landscape, delivering a high-quality employee experience.

The role requires partnering with HR, Finance, Global Mobility, payroll vendors, and external stakeholders to uphold governance, controls, and service excellence while driving transformation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Extensive payroll operations experience including South Africa payroll.
• Experience managing payroll operations across multiple African countries.
• Minimum two years' people management experience.
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance, SOX controls, governance, and audit requirements.
• Professional fluency in English; French or additional African language capability advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll operations across Africa and expatriate payroll.
• Ensure payroll activities meet local legislation, policies, and SLAs.
• Drive governance, controls, and payroll service quality.
• Monitor payroll performance and improve employee experience and service outcomes.
• Partner with HR, Finance, Global Mobility, Payroll Vendors, and external stakeholders.
