A leading financial institution is seeking a legal advisor to provide expert legal advice and manage agreements related to global markets. The successful candidate will have a strong background in legal matters, particularly in financial sectors, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging legal problems, collaborate with various stakeholders, and contribute to important legal projects.
To execute legal operations by providing legal advice to stakeholders on relatively well-defined to moderately complex matters, using the prescribed tools and methodologies.
Negotiation, management and post execution review of ISDAs, GMRAs, GMSLAs, Client Agreements, etc (the "Agreements") and the update and maintenance of any relevant legal opinions for the Global Markets businesses in South Africa and Africa Regions to enable Global Markets to trade derivatives, repo's, securities lending transactions and exchange traded products.
This includes but is not limited to keeping abreast of local and international developments in relation to the Agreements, the management and involvement in ad-hoc projects relating to the Agreements and as required within the Global Markets Legal team, assisting with the update and maintenance of templates, taking part in any relevant industry body working groups and / or committees and advising on queries with respect to the operation and content of the Agreements.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Type of Qualification : LLB Field of Study : Law Other Minimum Qualifications, Certifications or Professional Membership : Admitted Attorney Experience Required 3-4 years post articles experience in the provision of legal advice, drafting, vetting, review, dissemination and / or negotiation.
At least 2 years' experience within the legal and / or financial sectors.
Identification and mitigation of legal risk.
