About the Role

Our client, a specialist provider of high-end commercial cleaning services based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal , is seeking an Advanced Surface Care Technician. This role focuses on the meticulous deep cleaning, restoration, and maintenance of various specialized surfaces, including carpets, upholstery, and hard floors, in commercial and high-traffic environments. The ideal candidate will have a passion for detailed work, a strong understanding of different material types, and expertise in using advanced cleaning equipment and solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring that all treated surfaces meet stringent quality and aesthetic standards, enhancing the overall appearance and longevity of client properties in the Durban area. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in their craft and is committed to delivering exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform specialized cleaning, restoration, and maintenance of various surfaces, including carpets, rugs, upholstery, and hard floorings (e.g., tile, grout, stone, wood).
• Operate and maintain advanced cleaning machinery, such as industrial vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, carpet extractors, and steam cleaners.
• Apply appropriate cleaning solutions and treatments based on surface material, type of soiling, and manufacturer recommendations.
• Conduct pre-cleaning assessments to determine the best course of action for specific stains or damage.
• Ensure all treated surfaces are left clean, dry, and free from residue.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Manage and maintain inventory of cleaning chemicals and equipment, ensuring they are stored correctly and are in good working order.
• Provide exceptional customer service and clear communication to clients regarding work performed.
• Follow company procedures for job completion, reporting, and client sign-off.
• Maintain a high level of workmanship and attention to detail in all tasks performed in Durban .

Requirements

• Proven experience as a specialized cleaner or technician, with a focus on surface care (e.g., carpet cleaning, floor care).
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining advanced cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of different types of surfaces, stains, and appropriate cleaning methods/chemicals.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations related to cleaning operations.
• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, bending, lifting, and operating equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver's license may be required for mobile service provision.
• Experience within the KwaZulu-Natal region is preferred.
