Senior Admissions Officer
Varsity College, an educational brand of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), is a leading private higher education provider in South Africa, registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).
The IIE's Varsity College, Online Centre in Waterfall (Midrand), has vacancies for two Admissions Officers.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Student Application & Admission Administration
- Collaborate with the campus student retention team to address student admission queries.
- Follow up for missing student information to finalize admissions.
- Evaluate student applications against admission criteria and communicate outcomes.
- Liaise with the retention team during evaluation and assessment.
- Escalate complex queries to senior staff and registrar's office.
- Manage documentation and issue admission letters.
- Verify registration information regularly.
- Manage conditions related to admissions and follow up accordingly.
- Assess student eligibility for academic programs.
- Track admissions through to registration.
- Report progress to senior staff.
- Ensure adherence to service level agreements and collaborate with finance and academic teams on related issues.
Student Registration Administration
- Check prerequisites for semester registration.
- Verify registration accuracy and manage de-registration/transfer processes.
- Follow up on documentation and update records.
- Determine eligibility and credits, maintain records per PoPIA regulations.
- Ensure compliance for international students.
- Re-audit registration files and prepare necessary correspondence.
Graduation
- Assess eligibility for graduation, including late graduates.
- Verify student information and prepare certificates.
- Manage graduation timelines and certificate reprints.
Ticket Management
- Process tickets related to admission, graduation, and registration.
Reports & Other
- Maintain communication with the Registrar's office for query resolution.
- Comply with POPIA legislation.
- Perform additional administrative and reporting duties as required.
Competencies required :

- Results-oriented with the ability to work under pressure.
Minimum Qualification Requirements :
- National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF Level 6); Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) preferred.
Minimum Work Experience Requirements :
- At least 2 years of administrative experience, preferably in admissions.
Working Hours :
- Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00; alternate Saturdays as required.
