A vacancy exists for an Admission Clerk based at Life Wilgers Hospital, reporting to the Admissions Supervisor. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning of the admissions department and become part of a professional team that strives for the highest standards of quality in Life Healthcare.

Critical Outputs
  • Providing prompt, courteous service to all patients, visitors, wards, doctors, colleagues, and other hospitals.
  • Admitting all patients accurately on the Impilo System in accordance with LHC protocol and procedures.
  • Managing the collection of co-payments and private fees.
  • Applying funder rules related to hospitalization, such as benefits and co-payments, will be advantageous.
  • Liaising with medical aids to obtain authorization for all admissions/pre-admissions.
  • Ensuring a high standard of documentation completion.
  • Answering telephone calls as per LHC policies.
  • Receiving and handling cash according to company cash management protocols.
  • Confirming correct Emergency unit billing, managing account releases, and submitting to funders.
  • Flexibility regarding working hours, including night duty, public holidays, and overtime.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 qualification and computer proficiency (testing may be performed).
  • Strong customer service ethic and ability to work under pressure, multitasking.
  • Knowledge of IMEDS and Impilo systems is advantageous.
  • Reliable, motivated, and hardworking.
  • Accurate handling of cash (ITC check will be performed).
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges, and role players is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of funder rules related to hospitalization is advantageous.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Bilingual proficiency.
  • Problem-solving, analysis, and judgment.
  • Resilience.
  • Verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
