Job Description:

The University of Johannesburg aims for global excellence and stature. Since 2010, the UJ Postgraduate School (UJPS) has been tasked with balancing international best practices with UJ’s unique needs. The role requires someone with strong financial planning, organizational skills, and interpersonal relations at all levels. The incumbent will facilitate the equitable and efficient allocation of bursaries/scholarships managed by the Research and Innovation Division, providing excellent service to students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, and donors, and offering advice on postgraduate funding at UJ. Maintaining high confidentiality is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Efficient allocation, award, and replacement of fellowships and bursaries.
  • Allocation and timely payment of bursaries.
  • Ensuring compliance with Postgraduate fund management policies and procedures.
  • Supporting governance and audit processes.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
  • Verifying, validating, and nominating applicants.
  • Managing contractual processes, including reviews and renewals.
  • Preparing reports and providing administrative support.
  • Conducting workshops and meetings for stakeholders.
  • Authorizing refunds through Student Finance processes.
  • Handling internal and external reporting, e.g., NRF.
  • Managing communication with stakeholders.
  • Implementing policies related to NRF and bursaries.
  • Providing ad hoc support in PFM as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Finance or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience working with postgraduate students and stakeholders.
  • At least 3 years’ experience with NRF funding and bursaries.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365.
