Job summary

Guardrisk is a leading cell captive insurer in South Africa, seeking an actuarial pricing professional to drive product development and pricing insights. You will work with data scientists, actuaries and underwriters to shape pricing models and provide commercial recommendations.

The role emphasizes technical pricing, risk assessment and collaboration with IT and claims teams to ensure profitable, compliant offerings for GGI and clients.

Qualifications

• An Actuarial or Bachelor’s Degree with mathematics or statistics as majors.
• Associate Actuary or making good progress with Associate level exams.
• 2–4 years' relevant work experience.
• Coding knowledge in SQL, Python and R advantageous.
• Knowledge of insurance products, contracts and relevant industry legislations.
• Sound numerical skills and computer literacy (MS Excel/Word/SQL).
• Data extraction experience advantageous.
• Ability to interpret data and provide insights.
• Strong technical expertise and problem solving.
• Achievement orientation and time management.
• Independent work style with a proactive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Take accountability for all product development and pricing frameworks.
• Coordinate with IT, underwriters, claims teams and product owners to understand products and processes.
• Support rate reviews and re-pricing exercises to maintain technical soundness and competitiveness.
• Oversee assessment and approval of new product offerings for viability and compliance.
• Review and ensure accuracy of team members' work.
• Improve tools and processes monitoring policy value accuracy.
• Explain deviations and advise on corrective measures.
• Ensure projects adhere to audit and risk requirements.
• Collaborate with external teams to define pricing models and processes.
• Assist clients in design and development of bespoke products focusing on profitability.
