Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Actuarial Assistant in Paarl to support the actuarial team with data analysis, pricing, reserving, and financial modeling. The role provides a stepping stone toward full actuarial qualification under senior actuaries’ guidance.

You will handle data, calculations, and reporting while developing skills across pricing, reserving, and modeling in a supportive Cape Winelands environment. Company backing for actuarial exams is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• Progress towards actuarial qualification (passed preliminary exams).
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excel and statistical software or programming experience (R, Python, SQL) advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior actuaries with data collection, validation, and analysis.
• Perform pricing, reserving, and financial projection calculations.
• Develop and maintain spreadsheets/databases for actuarial modeling.
• Prepare regulatory filings and internal management reports.
• Contribute to development and testing of actuarial models.
• Pursue actuarial exams with company support.
