Outsized is building a bench of high-quality freelance actuarial consultants in South Africa to support upcoming project needs across our insurance, consulting, and financial services clients.

We are proactively connecting with actuaries who are open to freelance opportunities now or in the near future. This is not a live role, but part of a talent build-up for future assignments.

We’re looking for actuaries with experience in one or more of the following:

• Short-term insurance pricing and reserving
• Life insurance valuations and reporting (including SAM / IFRS 17)
• Prophet modelling and actuarial systems development
• Data science and analytics (Python, R, SQL, Power BI)
• Reinsurance or pensions experience
• Regulatory submissions and stakeholder reporting

Requirements

• 3+ years of actuarial experience (open to nearly qualified and qualified actuaries)
• Based in South Africa, with the right to work as an independent contractor
• Ability to work independently and deliver against deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to present findings clearly
• Comfortable working remotely with international teams or clients

Nice to Have

• Exposure to IFRS 17 or SAM regulatory environments
• Experience working on consulting projects or across multiple clients
• Technical fluency in Prophet, SQL, Python or R
