Job summary

Sumer is seeking an experienced accounting professional in Johannesburg to join our Accounting hub. The role focuses on preparing financial statements for various entity types and ensuring UK regulatory compliance under a people-first approach.

You will work with Monahans and other hubs to deliver accurate reporting, liaise with clients, and support senior staff on audits and advisory tasks. A strong UK-experience emphasis is required.

Qualifications

• SAIPA Accountant (or similar e.g. CIMA / AGA(SA)) with full accounting function experience.
• Experience with UK accounts and compliance guidance is essential.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and companies.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts; assist with month-end processes.
• Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and relevant tax regulations.
• Liaise with clients to gather financial information and resolve queries promptly.
• Support senior accountants and auditors with ad hoc tasks and reporting.

UK Accounts Experience - Essential

• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial reporting principles
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively
• Good communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
