Job summary

Sumer Group is seeking an Accounts Senior with UK Accounts experience to join our Johannesburg hub. The role focuses on accurate financial reporting for SME clients and compliance with UK standards.

You will prepare statements, reconcile ledgers, liaise with clients, and support senior accountants across Monahans and other hubs within the Sumer group.

Qualifications

• SAIPA or equivalent accounting qualification with full function experience.
• UK accounts experience is essential.
• Proficiency with Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and assist with month-end processes.
• Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and relevant tax regulations.
• Liaise with clients to gather financial information and resolve queries promptly.
• Support senior accountants and auditors with ad hoc tasks and reporting as required.

Key Responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• SAIPA Accountant (or similar e.g. CIMA / AGA(SA)) with full accounting function experience
• UK Accounts experience - essential
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial reporting principles
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively
• Good communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
