The Role

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Preparing reports, budgets, commentaries and financial statements
  • Liaising with managerial staff and other colleagues
  • Supervising a team of accounting administrators
  • Creating business strategies to generate shareholder value
  • Creating financial models of new business opportunities to identify income-generating opportunities and risks
  • Analysing current business operations to verify the relevance of the specific action and/or entity in terms of profitability and contribution to the organisational architecture
  • Analysing and interpreting financial information in the statement of financial position and statement of financial performance on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis in a group of companies
  • Forecasting estimates for the predicted use of financial resources against the budgeted financial resources during a given fiscal year or period of a project
  • Monitoring the actual use of financial resources against the approved budget and identifying variances during projects
  • Reporting findings and action taken to the appropriate authorities
  • Complying with the legal and statutory framework of policies, business processes, procedures and standards pertaining to recording, classifying, monitoring, and reporting on the use and disposition of financial resources
  • Establishing, maintaining, and applying an institution-specific framework of policies, business processes, procedures and standards pertaining to recording, classifying, monitoring, and reporting on the use and disposition of financial resources
  • Creating management reports on a regular basis that are relevant to decision-making processes, measuring performance against measures and targets (output and outcomes) established during finance management planning, against budget objectives, and/or against financial management performance standards used within the industry
  • Evaluating and analysing findings, and exploring options for corrective action
  • Completing and processing credit applications from suppliers and customers
  • Reviewing all invoices issued on accounting package
  • Reconciling bank statements, client and supplier accounts
  • Issuing invoices to the relevant client for payment – receiving details of invoice to be issued from project manager/engineer
  • Issuing statements monthly and sending out for payment timeously
  • Following up on outstanding payments not received within the ageing period – late payments to be reported to project engineer/Management
  • Liaising with debtors/creditors to address account-related queries
  • Verifying discrepancies and resolving billing issues
  • Project SD&L Administration
  • Forex payment administrations
  • Supplier price negotiations
  • Commercial Property Lease agreements, OTP’s, Transfers
  • Consolidating SARS queries
  • Submission of CIPC annual Returns
  • Monitoring project values, annual subscriptions of CIDB
  • BBBEE Audit preparations and research
  • Customer vendor registrations
  • Supplier assessments and applications during project tenders
  • Weekly updating and indices, annual renewals of SEIFS PIPS
  • Managing a team of 6-10 people

Ideal Profile

  • You have at least 5 years experience within an Accountant role, ideally within the Agribusiness, Manufacturing and Metals & Steel industry
  • You have working knowledge of
  • Experience in industrial, mining and manufacturing industries
  • Understanding the statutory requirements regarding the establishment, and maintenance of companies, close corporations, joint ventures, trusts etc.
  • You possess strong analytical skills and are comfortable dealing with numerical data
  • You pay strong attention to detail and deliver work that is of a high standard
  • You are a self-starter and demonstrate a high level of resilience
  • Being mindful of impeding risks and losses
  • Able to handle various complex assignments
  • Must have experience related to the requirements and responsibilities set out in the responsibilities of the position
