Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as an Accountant and Finance Analyst. The ideal candidate will be a rising star, keen to take on challenges and gain valuable experience. You will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensuring the overall financial health of our clients and partner organizations' bookkeeping. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, processes, and procedures, as well as analytical and reporting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a global team.

Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero), including submissions to Companies House.
  • Prepare accurate profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze reporting outputs and monitor monthly trend analysis.
  • Support clients with finance and accounting queries.
  • Record daily financial transactions, including purchases, receipts, and payments.
  • Post journals for UK payroll, prepayments, and accruals.
  • Assist with UK payroll processes, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Regular reconciliation of balance sheet items.
  • Review and file VAT returns with HMRC.
  • Assist with stock-takes if required.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and address discrepancies.
  • Prepare and send invoices to clients and customers.
  • Record sales and manage credit control.
  • Handle petty cash and expenses.
  • Identify and prepare proposed payment runs.
  • Set up and process payment runs.
  • Communicate with suppliers and handle remittances.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues.
  • Assist in cash flow forecasting and budgeting.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Generate and analyze financial reports for management review.
  • Prepare month-end statements.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports and analysis as needed, including weekly operational reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Be part of a best-in-class finance team and seek continual process improvements.
  • Gain full understanding of relevant systems and ensure data accuracy and integration.
  • Identify gaps in knowledge and seek training to address them.
  • Requirements:
    • Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar role.
    • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience with HMRC and Companies House in the UK.
    Education and Certification:
    • CA preferred.
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional bookkeeping or accounting qualifications are a plus.
