Purpose of Role

Responsible for accounting, financial reporting, and compliance for the South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana business of Weir Minerals. Ensures accurate, complete, and timely financial and statutory reporting while maintaining compliance with regulations and accounting policies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Safety First: Demonstrate commitment to zero harm behaviors to foster a world-class safety culture.
  2. Fixed Assets accounting: Allocate, capitalize, and dispose of assets. Ensure accurate depreciation and maintain the Capex Register. Oversee annual impairment exercises. Ensure capital investments are approved and aligned with budgets.
  3. General Accounting and Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of financial statements and reconciliations. Review payroll journals, expense accruals, and analysis. Manage outsourced service provider deliverables. Monitor transactions for compliance and prepare financial analyses. Manage intercompany transactions and group reconciliations.
  4. Banking and Treasury: Review bank reconciliations and payments. Manage treasury, cash, FX risk, and forex deals. Ensure compliance with banking regulations and coordinate audits.
  5. Audit, Control & Compliance: Develop and implement financial policies. Ensure compliance with policies, statutory requirements, and standards. Prepare regulatory reports and support audits. Perform controls and compliance testing.
Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications
  • Qualified CA with 5+ years of relevant experience and 2+ years in leadership roles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and management skills.
  • Attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance.
