Job description

My client is seeking a fluent Portuguese speaking Accountant. They must be fully fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in Portuguese. The individual should be fully literate in both English and Portuguese (speak, read and write) – potential candidates will undergo a comprehensive language test.

POSITION INFO :

Duties & Responsibilities

a) South African related duties :

  1. Daily Cashbook processing and Bank reconciliation
  2. Processing of Monthly journals
  3. Ensuring Insurance claims are followed up and finalized.
  4. Analysis of insurances paid.
  5. Monthly Report to be submitted on the status of Insurance Claims.
  6. Bank queries and administration regarding new credit cards.
  7. Checking that credit card statement reconciles to General ledger.
  8. Assisting Financial manager as and when required
  9. Daily capturing of the bank account.
  10. Management of debtor accounts and following up with branch manager on outstanding amounts.
  11. Petty cash transactions capturing and maintenance of petty cash.
  12. Preparing cross border documents and invoices for stock sent to Mozambique.
  13. Preparing clearing documents for cross border transactions.
  14. Ensure duties are calculated correctly.
  15. Liaising and following up with clearing agents to ensure timeous deliveries.
  16. Ensuring INSS, IRPS, and VAT are correctly calculated and captured on Mozambique revenue authority systems and payments made on time.
  17. Maintenance of asset register and monthly depreciation.
  18. Monthly journal entries.
  19. Preparation of monthly management accounts.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  1. A completed bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  2. 4-5 years working experience as an accountant/bookkeeper - at national and international level.
  3. Import and export experience will be advantageous.
  4. Sound knowledge of universal accounting principles and regulations.
  5. Proficiency in Navision software is advantageous.
  6. Advanced Microsoft Excel is mandatory.
  7. Deadline driven; and ability to work independently and within a team.
  8. Advantageous to be in possession of a valid passport for international travel.
