PPS Group Finance is seeking an Insurance Reporting Accountant to manage General Ledger entries, reporting and reconciliation for PPS Insurance Company Limited (South Africa) & PPS Insurance Company (Namibia) Limited.

The role involves analyzing monthly trial balances, processing journals, preparing IFRS 17 disclosures and providing management with accurate insights for month-end and year-end reporting. A degree in accounting and 0–2 years articles experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Accounting knowledge and practical application in general ledger and reporting.
• Exposure to insurance accounting and regulatory requirements is advantageous.
• IFRS 17 knowledge is advantageous for disclosures and reporting.

Responsabilités

• Analyse the monthly IAA trial balance for unusual movements and follow up with Operational finance.
• Import the IAA Trial balance into the General Ledger system.
• Process monthly journals from Operational Accounts and other Group finance journals as required.
• Manage deliverables including analysis of key reports from Operational Accounts Department.
• Implement new accounts and financial processes for new products and changes in operations; reconcile.
• Reconciling all IAA trial balance accounts to the general ledger and reconcile premiums, claims, reinsurance and commissions to the trial balance.
• Take ownership of all IAA and insurance related accounting.

PPS Group Finance is seeking an Insurance Reporting Accountant responsible for the General Ledger entries, reporting and reconciliation of transactions originating from the Insurance Policy Administration System for PPS Insurance Company Limited (South Africa) & PPS Insurance Company (Namibia) Limited.

Education:

• Accounting Degree, post graduate qualification an advantage

Experience:

• 0 – 2 years articles experience. Articles experience an advantage
• Previous experience in an Insurance company would be an advantage

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of the insurance industry an advantage
• Good accounting knowledge and proven track record
• Exposure to IFRS 17 an advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

Processing

• Analyse the monthly IAA trial balance for unusual movements, query and follow through with Operational finance.
• Importing the IAA Trial balance into the General Ledger system
• Processing additional monthly standard journals received from Operational Accounts department as well as other Group finance journals, as required.
• Managing deliverables including analysis of key reports from Operational Accounts Department
• Implementation of new accounts and financial processes for new products and changes in operations Reconciling
• Reconciling all IAA trial balance accounts to the general ledger
• Reconciling Premiums, Claims, Reinsurance and Commissions schedules to the trial balance
• Taking overall ownership of all IAA and insurance related accounting

Financial Reporting

• Provide management and PPS Board with accurate information and value-added commentary for month end and year end reporting.
• Investigate and explain variances to budget on all key numbers.
• Performance of the monthly and annual profit allocation calculation
• Prepare Financial Statements including IFRS 17 disclosures

Budgeting

• Preparing all IAA related Income and Expense budgets
• Preparing budget presentations for Exco and Board budget meetings with value added commentary on all variances.

Statutory reporting

• Assist and prepare financial information for the annual financial statements.
• Attending to audit queries
• Preparation of the year-end profit allocation calculation
• IFRS 17 & Regulatory Reporting

Business related issues

• Respond to queries from business timeously
• Assisting with Ad Hoc requests
