Job description

Job Opportunity: Accountant (6-Month Contract)

Our well-known automotive dealer client is seeking an experienced Accountant based in Johannesburg for a 6-month contract. Previous motor industry experience and system knowledge of Evolve or Kerridge are required. The position offers up to R25,000 per month plus benefits.

Qualifications: BComm in Accounting or relevant diploma (minimum)

Position Overview: To provide expertise, advice, and support in developing operational implementation plans and service delivery processes related to financial dealings and accounting sequences. The goal is to enhance service delivery, maintain updated information, and achieve performance targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure adherence to correct accounting policies and procedures at all times.
  2. Manage the full capital expenditure (capex) process.
  3. Review prepaid and vehicle, parts, and asset stock takes.
  4. Prepare and consolidate financial statements and reports.
  5. Prepare audit schedules and assist auditors in finalizing audits.
  6. Process credit notes, perform warranty reconciliations, and follow up on variances.
  7. Reconcile nominal ledger accounts and follow up on variances.
  8. Prepare Annual Tax Pack Returns.
  9. Conduct Monthly VAT General Ledger Reconciliation.
  10. Review FSP calculations and returns.
  11. Manage Cash Book and loading payments.
  12. Prepare Cash Management Reports.
  13. Handle all reconciliations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Postgraduate certificates or professional qualifications in Education, Training, and Development, higher education, or training at NQF Level 7.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar environment, specifically in the motor industry.

Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Knowledge of financial accounting principles, transaction classification, measurement, and recording.
  • Basic understanding of accounting and tax concepts, financial statements, trial balances, and financial record-keeping.
  • Ability to record financial transactions and understand accounting fundamentals.
  • Interrogate transactions, analyze, reconcile financial data, resolve issues, and report findings.
