The accountant will support the Finance Business Partner. The incumbent will fulfill crucial accounting duties and provide oversight of other finance resources.
The extra capacity and oversight at a senior level are very much needed and provide added succession planning options within the team.
The role also diversifies the risk of single point dependencies and spreads core processes and tasks like revenue assurance, oversight, and signoff on key processes.
POSITION INFO :
- Assist with financial records in an accurate and effective manner in accordance with accounting standards and procedures.
- Comply with internal controls that ensure accurate record keeping and the safeguarding of assets. Make and implement recommendations for improvements where appropriate.
- Ensure that the principles of good corporate governance are applied at all times.
- Assist with a clean and effective annual audit.
- Ensure adherence to Group policies and procedures.
- Identify, recommend solutions, and implement improvements to processes and procedures including appropriate documentation.
- Facilitate cash flow and cash flow forecasting.
- Facilitate effective cost measurement and control.
- Assist with financial analysis and insight for decision-making.
- Assist with analysis and management accounting reporting to aid decision-making, new business acquisition, pricing, and profitability reviews.
- Assist with the divisions' Cash Flows, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Reporting, Management Packs, Budgets, Forecasts, and Audit.
- Assist GM Head of Finance in the effective and timely production of monthly management pack and presentation for submission to group.
- Draft and present monthly Branch and Africa Reporting unpack analysis to GM Head of Finance.
- Ensure effective and timely internal monthly reporting at all levels required.
- Ensure that the GM and Head of Finance have all required information and explanations for the monthly review.
- Assist with submissions for Monthly Review Pack.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Annual Business Plan
- Assist with a full bottom-up budget and consolidate into the division's annual business plan.
- Highlight risks regarding the achievement of the business plan.
Human Resource Management
- Co-manage the financial department, promoting the achievement of planned team objectives and targets by ensuring that the finance team has a high-performance culture.
- Ensure that training and development needs are identified and addressed.
- Contribute to a proactive environment where managers and subordinates take responsibility for results.
- Ensure team diversity is embraced and that transformation is proactively driven.
Qualification :
Experience and Skills :
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Financial and staff management experience would be advantageous.
