Job summary

Pillangó Placements July, 2026 is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our Woodmead-based technology partner and manage day-to-day financial operations. You will handle transactions in Sage Accounting, prepare monthly management accounts, and ensure VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL compliance while liaising with SARS and auditors.

The role demands 3–5 years of accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and a strong understanding of SA accounting standards.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of accounting experience in a similar role.
• Proficient in Sage Accounting and SARS eFiling.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Solid understanding of South African VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL.
• Three-year diploma or bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or related field.

Responsibilities

• Process daily transactions and maintain records in Sage Accounting.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and complete month-end procedures.
• Submit VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL returns.
• Support tax compliance for provisional and corporate income tax.
• Reconcile balance-sheet accounts and maintain fixed assets.
• Liaise with SARS, auditors, banks and service providers.
• Improve accounting processes and support finance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Process daily transactions and maintain accurate records in Sage Accounting.
• Manage accounts payable, receivable and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and complete month-end and year-end procedures.
• Submit VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL returns.
• Support provisional and corporate income tax compliance.
• Reconcile balance-sheet accounts and maintain the fixed-asset register.

Requirements / Eligibility

• Three to five years’ accounting experience in a similar role.
• Practical Sage Accounting experience.
• Hands‑on SARS eFiling and tax‑submission experience.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Strong knowledge of South African accounting principles and regulations.
• Advanced knowledge of VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL and corporate income tax.
• Education: Three‑year diploma or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, ethical and dependable, with strong problem-solving and English communication skills. Must work independently, protect confidential information and deliver accurately under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Employment Type: Full Time.
• Experience Requirements: 36 months.

Salary

• The proposed salary range is R30k - R40k per month. If you can demonstrate exceptional value, an offer of up to R50k per month can be negotiated. Any offer will be based on qualifications, experience and skills.
