This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic finance team in a fast-paced, international environment focused on driving the transition to sustainable energy.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, results-driven Accountant to support the finance function on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts to ensure financial integrity
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in a timely manner
- Perform detailed account reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to meet deadlines
- Assist internal and external auditors by providing required documentation and explanations
- Prepare VAT and other statutory tax submissions, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and regulations
- Monitor budgets and support variance analysis and reporting activities
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards such as IFRS
- Provide insightful ad hoc financial analysis to support management decision-making
- Actively contribute to the improvement and automation of accounting processes and systems
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate finance matters clearly
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Professional accounting qualification preferred (SAIPA, SAICA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a multinational environment or renewable energy sector
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and South African financial regulations
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate within a diverse and cross-functional team
