Job summary

Exceed HR and Recruitment in Wellington, Western Cape, invites applications for an Accountant to manage the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance, and to prepare management reports.

You will handle debtors and creditors, VAT, PAYE, UIF, and SDL, maintain fixed asset registers, and support audit preparation and internal controls.

Degree or diploma required; 3–5 years' experience expected; experience in multi-entity environments or civil construction is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree or National Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in financial accounting, bookkeeping, or a similar finance role.
• Solid understanding of VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, and basic income tax processes.
• Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll journals, and audit preparation.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and accounting software experience (Sage, Pastel, EJM, BuildSmart).
• Strong attention to detail, organisation, and meeting deadlines.
• Experience in multi-entity environments or civil construction is advantageous.
• Self-motivated, trustworthy, and able to work independently with accuracy.

• Prepare management reports, financial schedules, and supporting documentation for internal reporting and decision-making.
• Manage debtors, creditors, invoicing, cost allocations, and intercompany transactions.
• Assist with statutory compliance, including VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, income tax, and audit preparation.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and oversee the administration of company vehicles, plant, equipment, licences, permits, insurance, and fuel records.
• Support internal financial controls and contribute to improving financial administration processes across the business.

Requirements:
