Job description

Our manufacturing client in Saldanha is looking for an Accountant with 3 years accounting and payroll experience (small amount). Experience from a manufacturing environment an added bonus as well as cost accounting an added bonus

Qualifications required

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

3+ years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year of direct small payroll processing experience.

Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting, especially in industrial or manufacturing settings.

Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., Sage Cloud Accounting and Sage Cloud Business Payroll.

Responsibilities

Combine experience in general accounting functions with small payroll administration, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, cost control, and compliance with labour and tax regulations.

Maintain accurate financial records and perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.

Monitor cost of production, raw material usage, energy consumption, and yield variances.

Manage fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.

Administer small payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal laws.

Maintain and update payroll records, including new hires, terminations, bonuses, deductions, and leave balances.

Reconcile small payroll transactions and interface with the general ledger.

Prepare small payroll reports for internal use and external compliance (e.g., tax filings, benefits reporting).

Work with HR to maintain employee confidentiality and accurate compensation records.

Stay current on payroll regulations, labor laws, and industry-specific agreements.
