SUMMARY :
We are looking for a Technical Accountant to join our finance team and ensure accurate and efficient financial processing in accordance with treaty terms, accounting principles, and compliance standards. This role is central to our accounting, claims, credit control, and data quality management processes, and requires strong reconciliation skills, analytical thinking, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
POSITION INFO :
Process and record accounting transactions accurately and on time
Ensure financial data aligns with treaty terms, VAT legislation, and relevant compliance frameworks
Reconcile cedent accounts and track performance-based commissions
Analyse treaty data and recommend commission adjustments where necessary
Process claims accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure claim reserves are up-to-date and reflective of actual liability
Manage collections to maintain stable investment income
Ensure balances are reconciled and outstanding payments are followed up
Alert relevant teams to large outgoing payments and ensure payment execution on due dates
Identify and correct data mismatches in treaty encoding (e.g., VAT conditions, commission rates, signed shares)
Coordinate with underwriters and other departments to resolve data discrepancies
Engage with internal departments including Underwriting, Actuarial, and Finance
Communicate account statuses, escalate queries, and deliver clear financial insights to stakeholders
Skills & Experience :
Strong understanding of accounting principles (debits, credits, assets, liabilities, income, expenses)
Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills
Strong organisational and communication abilities
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities
Qualification :
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (Essential)
Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in a financial accounting or technical accounting role (Essential)
Prior experience in insurance or reinsurance (Preferred)
Strong understanding of accounting principles (debits, credits, assets, liabilities, income, expenses)
Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills
Strong organisational and communication abilities
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities
