Job description

Scope of Role:

An accountant at Huge Distribution plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the financial operations of the company, as well as overseeing daily business activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Bookkeeping and Financial Reporting:
  2. Manage all aspects of bookkeeping using the company's accounting software, WebAccounting.
  3. Maintain accurate and current financial records.
  4. Prepare monthly management accounts for the owners.
  5. Prepare annual financial statements and handle audit queries and submissions.
  6. Manage inventory receipt, accounting, and upkeep.
  7. Process monthly payments to local and international suppliers.
  8. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and principles.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  1. Assist in developing and maintaining annual and monthly budgets.
  2. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support budgeting decisions.
  3. Monitor budget performance and analyze variances.
  4. Generate and update cash flow projections.
  5. Assist in forecasting future financial performance and inventory procurement.
  6. Contribute to inventory costings.

Tax and VAT Compliance:

  1. Prepare VAT and tax returns and submit them to the company's accountants, including Income Tax, VAT, and payroll taxes.
  2. Ensure compliance with tax regulations and deadlines.
  3. Respond to tax inquiries and assist with audits as needed.

Payroll:

  1. Manage employee payments for a team of 7 monthly employees.
  2. Calculate sales commissions monthly.
  3. Create salary sheets and reports for the owners.
  4. Maintain employee records and track leave.
  5. Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  6. Handle annual Department of Labour Law visits and prepare necessary documentation.
  7. Generate and reconcile IRP5, EMP201, and EMP501 reports.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  1. Analyze financial data to support strategic decisions.
  2. Generate customized financial reports for the owners.
  3. Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
