Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the full accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  2. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  3. Ensure compliance with SARS (South African Revenue Service) requirements including VAT, PAYE, Income Tax, and other statutory returns.
  4. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  5. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  6. Maintain asset registers and manage depreciation schedules.
  7. Process payroll or liaise with payroll service providers ensuring compliance with labour laws.
  8. Implement and maintain financial controls and accounting procedures.
  9. Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.
  10. Liaise with external service providers, including banks, auditors, and tax consultants.
  11. Stay current with South African financial regulations and best practices.
  12. Capable of handling the finance functions independently with minimum supervision.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA) is preferable.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of accounting experience, preferably within South Africa.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office.
