Role Summary

We are seeking a Fund Accountant, reporting to a Team Leader within Apex, to have responsibility for the preparation of accurate portfolio valuations on a timely basis.

You will typically be responsible for the preparation and oversight of a number of client portfolios (including underlying accounting, financial statements preparation, regulatory requirements), the development and mentoring of more junior team members, and providing the highest quality of service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Working with the Team Leader to ensure the planning, coordination, and completion of NAVs.
  2. Management Reporting and Statutory Reporting of corporate entities to ensure compliance with all accounting and regulatory obligations and requirements, including listing requirements and client reporting.
  3. Assist with the development and mentoring of trainee fund accountants.
  4. Liaising with fund managers, brokers, and custodians to communicate information and resolve issues on a timely basis.
  5. Ensure client responsibilities are managed effectively and to agreed deadlines, adhering to best practices, regulatory, and statutory standards.
  6. Assist external auditors to ensure audits are conducted efficiently and on time.
  7. Perform additional responsibilities supporting the ongoing development of the division.
  8. Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual NAVs.
  9. Preparation of management accounts and IPDs.
  10. Preparation of annual statutory financial statements.
Skills / Experience
  • Commerce degree with coursework in Financial Accounting, Taxation, Auditing or Internal Auditing, Internal Control & Code of Ethics, and Management Accounting.
  • SAIPA, CIMA, or AG(SA) qualification.
  • Proficient in MS Excel; structural and detail-oriented.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet strict deadlines.
  • Motivated and driven.
  • Fund-related accounting experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Private Debt, Capital Markets, Real Assets, or Private Equity is a plus.
